How To Donate Your Vehicle

There are multiple auto donation charity programs and organizations out there. If you want to ensure that your donation is being used toward the betterment of children and the community at large, educate yourself about car donation programs. When you donate a vehicle (even a junk car) or any other item to Autos for Autism, you're giving an invaluable gift to children in need all across the country. An auto donation can easily be written off on your taxes and we'll even handle all the paperwork you’ll need to donate a car.

What can I donate?

Is my donation tax deductible?

All of the Charitable Organizations with whom we work are 501(c) [3] classified, and all donations to these non-profit organizations are tax deductible.

What do I need to do to donate a car or other vehicle?

We'd like the title to the vehicle. If you do not have title papers call us anyway, other arrangements can be made in most instances. Secondly, you can contact us by filling out our vehicle donation form or calling 1-877-763-9090. We will schedule a convenient pick up time.

Can I still donate my car even if it hasn't run in years?

Yes! Even if the vehicle does not operate, we will make all the arrangements to have it picked up at no cost to you. Just call us at 1-877-763-9090

How is the value of my car determined?

In compliance with the IRS, donors can claim a tax deduction on a donated vehicle for $500 or the selling price at auction if the amount should exceed $500. IRS Publications 526 and 561 set forth the regulations regarding donations made to a 501(c)(3) organization.
We remind you that these publications have recently changed (January 2005), so please make sure you read the updated site prior to your donation.

How will the car be picked up?

At the scheduled time, we will arrange to tow your car, boat, truck, RV or travel trailer. Just contact us to schedule a pick-up.

How long will it take to pick up my car?

As soon as you contact us, we will normally pick up your car within a few days.  If you need your car picked up sooner, we can make those arrangements.
